The saddest spring in many years has just arrived. Even so, let’s get fueled with its magnetism in these tough times.

Clifford Brown dedicated this energetic and optimistic piece to his wife Larue. In fact he used to call her his “Joy Spring”.

Clifford died tragically at age 26. But he left an immense legacy: a true technical revolution in jazz trumpet playing, a deep and noble sound, a phrasing that always elicits an accompliceous smile, great compositions like this one, and trumpet solos that are authentic doctoral theses.
