Bouncing with Bud is a song by the great pianist Bud Bowell composed in 1946. The first title of the composition was another: “Bebop in Pastel”, and such a tittle appeared in the the first recording of this number, made with trumpeter Kenny Dorham and alto saxophonist Sonny Stitt. But immediately it took the title with which it is known until today. I’m a big fan of the 1949 version with trumpeter Fats Navarro and tenor saxophonist Sonny Rollins:

Decades later, in 1997 Chick Corea recorded a superb Powell tribute album; Remembering Bud Powell (I was lucky enough to hear a concert from that tour in Boston, at the Berklee Performance Center):
