Ten Jazz Men no Teatro Principal de Pontevedra
O vindeiro 24 de Marzo no Teatro Principal de Pontevedra ás 21:30 actuarán os Ten Jazz Men con Míkel Andueza de convidado especial no saxo alto. Este concerto pecha o ciclo Jazz no Principal 2007 organizado polo Seminario Permanente de Jazz de Pontevedra. Ten Jazz Men é unha bigband reducida que se formou en 2006 co gallo do Festival de Jazz de Cangas Canjazz. O grupo participou tamén no Festival de Jazz de Lugo en Novembro do ano pasado e na Gala do XXV Aniversario do Parlamento de Galicia celebrada no Auditorio CaixaNova de Pontevedra. O 16 de Maio Ten Jazz Men tocará no Auditorio de Galicia de Santiago de Compostela pechando o ciclo Composjazz. O primeiro disco da banda chámase May’s Idea e foi editado por Free Code Jazz Records en 2007.
Míkel Andueza é un dos máis destacados saxofonistas da escena jazzística peninsular. Na mañá do día 24 ofrecerá unha Master Class na sé do SPJ en Pontevedra (Alfonso XIII, nº 7). O repertorio para esa noite é unha selección especial de temas nos que o saxo alto ten un destacado papel como solista.
Inclúovos as liner notes que preparei para o primeiro disco de Ten Jazz Men:
O proxecto Ten Jazz Men nace en Agosto de 2006 como unha producción propia do Canjazz (Workshop + Festival de Jazz de Cangas). A idea central da proposta era a de formar unha bigband reducida na que os seus integrantes aportaran boa parte do seu repertorio con material orixinal. Pedinlles composicións a Xavier Pereiro (Black May), Telmo Fernández (Tip, Tap, Toe) e a Iago Vázquez, que mesmo arranxou o seu tema para o grupo (Capicúa). Desta maneira, a proposta constituía un vehículo de expresión tanto interpretativa como compositiva para os seus membros, vencellados todos eles ao SPJ. Arranxei os temas de Xavier e Iago e engadín dúas composicións miñas (Laranxa Colorada e May’s Idea). Por último pensei que sería interesante incluír no programa unha versión dunha preciosa peza tradicional galega (Non Sei) e tamén un standard do repertorio clásico do jazz (All the things you are). Para aquel primeiro concerto no Canjazz tivemos a sorte de poder incluír unha composición de Jesús Santandreu expresamente escrita para a banda (Isabel y Fernanda). A presente gravación foi feita en Pontevedra unha semana despois da exitosa estrea do grupo ante o público en Cangas.
Ten Jazz Men é unha formación con continuidade tal e como se constatou coa sús participación no Festival de Jazz de Lugo e na gravación en directo para a TVG do Especial XXV Aniversario do Parlamento de Galicia no Auditorio CaixaNova en Pontevedra. Neste 2007 o grupo participará no Jazz no Principal de Pontevedra co saxofonista basco Míkel Andueza de convidado así como no Festival de Jazz de Santiago de Compostela.
Para min é un verdadeiro pracer asumir a dirección artística dun grupo de talentosos músicos que darán moito que falar. Espero que vos guste o disco!
